Headshot Happy Hour at Baer Photography - 3 days!

Wednesday February 7th, 14th & 21st • 11am-1pm

First Impressions Count!

In today's business and social world, many first impressions are no longer made face to face. They happen through press releases, media stories, social media, online networking sites, business web sites, company brochures, business cards, advertising, billboards, etc... Your chance to make a first impression most often happens before you ever come face to face. This is why it's critical to have and use a current professional portrait.

An experienced portrait photographer will be able to analyze a person's facial structure to determine the best lighting to be used in combination with corrective posing and retouching to minimize flaws and enhance character. A skilled photographer will also be able to make their subjects feel relaxed and comfortable which will bring out the best in your personality.

A professional photograph projects the image of a professionally behaving individual. It implies that you take your career seriously and you are professional in all areas of your business. A great headshot can open doors for you. A poorly done snapshot or outdated headshot can cause you to lose credibility instantly.

You've probably heard someone say, “don't judge a book by its cover.” The advice warns us to not jump to conclusions based only on our first impression. Unfortunately, this old saying is more often a truth, than heeded advice. You've probably also heard the saying, “you only get one chance to make a first impression.” The common thread running through both of these old sayings is really the same. It means the weight of the first visual impression counts a lot.

The reason the visual impression matters so much is because your brain is automaticly wired to process that information first. Your brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, which means people tend to gravitate toward images when scanning content because visuals are much easier and quicker to digest.

If you were selling a product that no one else had, and it has the potential to bring in a million dollars of profit during your career, wouldn't you take a picture of it? Would you snap a picture with your camera phone? Would you let a friend or neighbor take a picture for you? Of course you wouldn't. You'd likely find the best photographer. Maybe even one who specialized in product photography. After all, remember we're talking about a product which will net you a million dollars.

The product I'm talking about is you! You are the product! Whether your business is retail, service or a professional trade, you are always selling yourself.
